Macon Mosquito Abatement District
We are a local government agency formed under the Mosquito Abatement Act of the State of Illinois. The Macon Mosquito Abatement District is a property-tax supported special district formed to suppress populations of mosquitoes and decrease the probability of mosquito-borne illness.
Our program implements routine surveillance and larvicide control of mosquito sources, supported by historical data and ongoing inspection of the District. Pre-treatment and post-treatment inspections are conducted to assess the control provided by the biorational larvicides (or biologically specific larvicides) are used.

WE'RE HIRING: The MMAD is currently accepting applications for seasonal Field Technicians. Field Tech's protect the public's health by inspecting standing water for mosquito larvae and treating the water as required. Must be at least 18 years of age, pass a State pesticide applicator exam and have a clean driving record.
*Opportunity exists to return for multiple summers of employment as the State Applicator License is valid for 3 years.
